Antalya recorded a remarkable surge in the 2025 season despite global uncertainties, moving steadily toward the highest annual visitor count in its history. The strong rebound of the Ukrainian market has become the most prominent driving force behind this growth.
A Tourism Curve Nearing Record Levels in the Final Stretch of the Year
As one of the Mediterranean’s leading destinations, Antalya welcomed 16.79 million visitors in the first eleven months of the year, surpassing the same period of the previous year. The increase—measured at 1.1%—positions the city to exceed the 17-million threshold by year-end. Such a figure would mark the highest annual visitor volume Antalya has ever achieved.
Ukraine’s Unexpected and Strong Comeback
The most striking development shaping the momentum came from the Ukrainian market. Despite the ongoing war, Ukrainian travelers continued to seek holiday options, and interest in Antalya rose by 23%. Reaching approximately 421,000 visitors in the January–November period, this flow both defied the uncertainties created by regional conditions and reaffirmed the destination’s pulling power.
Core Markets Remain Steady as Certain Regions Come Under Pressure
Antalya’s traditional source markets—Germany and Russia—maintained their strong positions throughout the year. The UK and Poland also demonstrated stable demand. Meanwhile, visitors of Turkish origin living abroad continued to strengthen the destination’s cultural ties. In contrast, declines in markets such as Iran and Kazakhstan reflected the impact of global economic tightening on travel mobility.
The Prolonged Impact of Autumn: The Extended Season Dynamic
Antalya’s tourism rhythm was not confined to the summer months. Hosting 2.7 million visitors in October and November, the city evolved into a structure where the season extends across the entire year. This expansion stands as one of Türkiye’s strongest responses to the Mediterranean region’s “extended season” model.
Evolving Visitor Profiles and a New Competitive Edge
Antalya’s 2025 performance is not limited to numerical growth. The increasingly diverse expectations of visitors arriving from various geographies are helping position the city’s tourism economy on a more sustainable foundation. This broadening of visitor profiles enhances Antalya’s global competitiveness while positioning the destination brand at a more inclusive and resilient point.
