A New Destination Strategy: Building a Strong Corridor Between Northern Europe and Asia
As of 2025, Thailand is enhancing its international accessibility through new direct flights from the UK, Sweden, and Norway. Bangkok-based Thai Airways plans to activate the new network in the final quarter of the year, aiming to revitalize tourist traffic from the European market.
Increased Connectivity Drives Rising Demand
According to data from the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), the number of European visitors to the country rose by 9% year-on-year in the first eight months of 2025. The London–Bangkok route will operate 14 flights per week, while connections from Stockholm and Oslo will run throughout the winter season, aligned with sustainable tourism programs.
Regional Cooperation and Market Diversification
The new flight network aims not only to strengthen traditional leisure travel but also to target the wellness, MICE, and long-stay segments. This strategy reinforces Thailand’s position as a year-round destination and a key hub within the ASEAN region.
Airline executives expect a 12% increase in passenger traffic from Europe by the end of 2025, reflecting growing confidence in Thailand’s diversified and sustainable tourism model.
