From the Mediterranean basin to the UK and Ireland: 10 new routes to launch in the 2026 summer season.
SunExpress, one of Türkiye’s leading leisure airlines, has announced a major network expansion for summer 2026, unveiling new connections across Europe. The strategy focuses on enhancing accessibility from the Mediterranean coastline to key departure points in the UK and Ireland, marking a new phase in the carrier’s international growth.
10 New Routes, Over +20% Annual Seat Capacity Increase
According to the airline’s official press release, 10 new international routes will enter service, including Antalya–Cork, Antalya–East Midlands, İzmir–Porto, İzmir–Sofia, and Milas-Bodrum–Gatwick. This expansion represents a planned 20%+ increase in annual seat capacity compared to the 2025 summer schedule. For example, the new East Midlands–Antalya route will operate three times per week in 2026.
Rising European Holiday Demand and Türkiye’s Competitive Edge
SunExpress’s network growth aligns with renewed demand patterns across Europe, where travelers are increasingly drawn to Mediterranean destinations. As travel flows from Brazil, Russia, and Northern Europe continue to shift, Türkiye stands out as a highly competitive hub for leisure travel. The airline reported €2.2 billion in revenue for 2024 and set a 2025 target of 16.8 million passengers, underlining its solid growth trajectory.
Growth, Accessibility, and Destination Diversity
With hubs such as Antalya, İzmir, and Bodrum serving as both tourism and transportation centers, Türkiye’s air connectivity is entering a new era. The upcoming routes will not only improve direct access from Europe but also reshape marketing and packaging strategies for holiday brands and tour operators.
SunExpress’s 2026 plan reflects a broader ambition: making Türkiye one of Europe’s most accessible and diverse leisure travel destinations.
