Luxury Stay for Traveling Pets: Dog Relais Opens in Fiumicino

Fiumicino Airport now offers double comfort for dog owners: from terminal pick-up service to aromatherapy, video calls to private gardens — all these options make vacations even more enjoyable for four-legged friends.

Dog Relais is located right next to the long-term parking area of Rome Fiumicino Airport and is very close to the terminal. Upon request, owners can even have their dogs picked up directly from the terminal.
Airport investments across Europe are expanding with next-generation facilities that not only focus on enhancing the passenger experience but also ensure the comfort of pets. Dog Relais stands out as the latest and most prominent example of this trend in Italy.

The facility offers two room categories. Standard rooms are priced at around €40 per night and include a 4 m² indoor area plus a 10 m² outdoor garden, soft fabric cushions, climate-controlled flooring, and an automatic water dispenser to ensure the dogs’ comfort. For those seeking something more upscale, Premium rooms are available at about €60 per night, featuring video-call screens, aromatherapy sessions, luxury beds, private gardens, and additional running spaces.

The segment-based pricing model creates a new revenue stream in the airport accommodation ecosystem by offering accessible luxury options to different traveler profiles.

Dog Relais stands out not only for accommodation but also for its grooming and wellness services. Staying dogs receive daily cleaning and care, with optional bathing, grooming, and dental cleaning. Lavender and mint aromatherapy sessions, as well as arnica-cream massages, support muscle and joint health. Owners can connect with their pets 24/7 via video call and even send treats through a mobile app.

Investments in pet comfort play a strategic role in repositioning airports as holistic “lifestyle and experience hubs” beyond transportation. In this respect, Dog Relais defines a new revenue model and customer experience standard for the aviation and tourism industries.

In terms of comfort, the facility impresses with temperature-controlled floors, private gardens, and quiet rooms enhanced by 432-Hertz ambient music at night for a calming atmosphere. Since opening in May, the hotel has attracted significant interest: in August all 40 rooms were fully booked, and overall occupancy rates already hover around 65–70 percent.

With these offerings, Dog Relais goes beyond being just an airport hotel — it aims to make every pet’s travel experience safe, comfortable, and truly enjoyable.
