The Sun of the Aegean Prepares to Meet London’s Grey Skies
The geographically marked mandarin grown on the beloved Datça Peninsula of Muğla has now taken on a new, delicious form: handcrafted, additive-free, gourmet gelato. Carefully prepared by the boutique brand Sade ve Doğal (“Pure and Natural”), this uniquely fresh dessert is set to appear in select organic stores and fine dining dessert menus across London starting in July 2025.
No additives. No marketing tricks.
Just in-season mandarins, goat’s milk, and beet sugar.
Founded by female entrepreneur Elif Yalın, Sade ve Doğal was born from the vision that “local values deserve a place at global tables.” In a short time, it has become the new gourmet face of the Aegean region, standing out with its model of sustainable agriculture and women-powered artisanal production.
A Sweet Kind of Diplomacy
A representative from a leading organic chain store in Soho, one of the first to accept the product in London, shared: “When you taste this gelato, you feel the citrus blossom mornings, the cool breeze of Aegean stone houses, and the sincere warmth of something truly natural.”
Anatolia’s culinary heritage is poised to play a role in the future of global gastronomy.
Bringing Datça’s mandarin to London is not only a victory for Turkish boutique producers but also a powerful example of how Anatolia’s culinary heritage can find its place in the future of global gastronomy. It paves the way for geographically marked Turkish products to enter international markets with high-end packaging and artisanal integrity.
Following the mandarin flavor, Sade ve Doğal is also preparing new varieties for export, including lavender-infused goat milk gelato, fig pudding with mastic, and rose petal sorbet. More than just a dessert maker, Sade ve Doğal is bottling the essence of the Aegean—its nature, scent, and simplicity—and delivering it to the world in modern, elegant form.
