Countdown Begins for the Opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum

A New Hub for Cultural Heritage

Set to become the largest archaeological museum in the world, the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), located in Giza, is preparing to open its doors to visitors in 2025. Situated just 2 kilometers from the Pyramids of Giza, the museum aims to showcase Egypt’s rich historical legacy and make a significant contribution to the country’s tourism sector.

The GEM will house more than 100,000 ancient artifacts, many of which will be on display for the first time. One of the most anticipated features is the entire collection of King Tutankhamun’s treasures, brought together under one roof. Additionally, visitors will be welcomed at the entrance by a colossal 83-ton statue of Ramses II.

The Egyptian government expects a surge in tourism with the opening of the museum. Considering the millions of annual visitors to world-renowned institutions like the Louvre, GEM is poised to further boost Egypt’s tourism appeal and contribute significantly to the national economy.

The museum is expected to be officially inaugurated on July 3, 2025. While some sections have already been partially opened to visitors, preparations are ongoing for full-scale operations.

Far more than a traditional exhibition space, the Grand Egyptian Museum is designed to serve as a cultural and educational hub featuring modern interactive experiences, learning areas, and public events. It promises a unique experience for anyone interested in exploring Egypt’s vast cultural heritage.
