Dog-Companion Stay Service: USD 70 per Night + Bite Compensation

Since early July, the Biguiyuan Phoenix Hotel in Wuhan has been offering guests the chance to spend the night with a dog of their choice under its “pet sleep-accompanying” service—complete with insurance coverage against bite risks.

A Therapeutic Accommodation Experience

Guests staying at the hotel can choose freely from among 10 breeds known for their calm and friendly nature, including White Terriers, Golden Retrievers, and Huskies. By paying 499 yuan (approximately USD 70), guests can enjoy this unique experience. So far, more than 80 people have tried the service, with no complaints reported.

Training and Health Checks for the “Working” Dogs

The hotel carries out full health checks and vaccinations for its dogs, some of which are bred in-house and others sourced from professional training institutions. The hotel even humorously notes that the dogs receive a daily “salary” of 100 yuan (about USD 14).

Legal Assurance: “If It Bites, the Responsibility Lies with the Hotel”

According to lawyer Du Xingyue from the Shanghai Yingdong Law Office, the agreement stipulates that if a dog bites any guest, the hotel assumes full responsibility—except in cases of “gross negligence” by the guest.

Marketing Power of the Service: Emotional Bond and Customer Loyalty

The pet-friendly hotel segment offers not just a place to stay, but a “story” to take home. A night spent with a dog becomes an unforgettable memory for the guest—and a highly shareable piece of content for social media.

Trend Analysis: Over the past five years, the “pet-friendly hospitality” market in the Asia-Pacific region has grown by 35%. As pet ownership rises in China, hotels are increasingly investing in this emotional connection.

In the end, what guests are left with is a special and heartwarming bond with a furry friend—even if only for a single night.
